New military history book review: Roman Army reader

The Bryn Mawr Classical Review provides a book review of Dexter Hoyos’, A Roman Army Reader: Twenty-One Selections from Literary, Epigraphic, and Other Documents. BC Latin Readers.  The book provides ancient Latin texts related to the Roman Army in peace and in war.  It draws from a number of different types of writings and from different authors.  The reviewer would have liked to see more explanation on various topics but overall, the book was recommended for intermediate to upper level Latin students who have an interest in studying the Roman Army.
