 Photo dated 1854-1856 - Portrait of Private Clemence Brophy, of the 34th Foot, seated with his pipe against a wall at Fort Pitt Military Hospital, Chatham, Kent. Private Brophy was born in Kilkenny, Ireland and joined the British Army, aged 21, on 21 December 1847. He lost his arm while fighting at Sevastopol on 31 August 1855. As a consequence of his injuries, Pte Brophy was discharged from military service on 29 May 1856.

 Photo August 1952 - Loaded with 500-pound high explosive bombs under their wings, these U.S. Air Force F-80 "Shooting Stars" are shown flying toward Communist frontline positions from a forward air base in Korea. These jet warcraft provided close air support for UN ground forces who were engaged in bitter fighting the previous week in the "Bunker" hill area.
