1849 –Riots at Villa Corsini (First Italian War of Independence) 
1861 – Battle of Philippi (US Civil War) 
1862 – Evacuation of Fort Pillow begins (US Civil War) 
1864 – Major fighting at Cold Harbor ends (US Civil War) 
1885 – Battle of Loon Lake (North-West Rebellion)

1943 – Battle of West Hubei ends (Second Sino-Japanese War) 
1944 – US takes Albano and Frascati, Italy; Canadians take Anagni (WWII)
 Circa June 1944 - Capts. Lemuel R. Custis (left) and Charles B. Hall, of the 99th Fighter Squadron of the U.S. Army Air Forces, chat while on leave in New York City. Their squadron first went into action in North Africa on June 4, 1943, and closely supported Allied ground forces advancing in Italy.
