1646 – Wallingford Castle surrenders (First English Civil War)
1684 - First Siege of Buda begins (Great Turkish War)

1814 – Maine campaign begins (War of 1812)
 1908 - Walbach Tower, New Castle, New Hampshire. The martello was built in 1814 to supplement Fort Constitution, the gate of which is in the distance at center.
