Destruction of the Taller Buddha (before and after)
The civil war raging in Syria destroys numerous sites and artifacts including the Krak de Chevaliers crusader castle and we bemoan the loss of human life and cultural heritage caused by this brutal fighting.

A team of idiots led by an ex-wrestler travels the United States digging up historical artifacts (US Civil War and Native American being the main target) and sell them for the highest price on auction and they get their television show renewed by Spike TV. Seriously people, has the United States become so motivated by simple greed that we celebrate the casual destruction of our own cultural heritage for dollars? There's a petition out there to sign to have Spike TV cancel this show, please do so.

Unfortunately I also know that in show business, all publicity, good or bad, is good for business. Perhaps a more effective move would be to contact the cable companies and satellite dish companies that carry Spike TV and tell them you want the show removed from your line-up and perhaps threaten to switch to a different carrier. In the meanwhile, I'm going to stop badmouthing looting in other places of the world because it seems to be a national past time here in the United States.
